The majority of us learn by example. How do we expect change if we aren’t willing to BE change?
I say things around my toddlers like… darn it… coming from an adult it doesn’t sound bad, but out of a 2 year old’s mouth it makes you realize it’s not that polite. How can I explain YOU shouldn’t say that word BUT it’s okay for mommy to?
I don’t know if you realize this, but we have a new generation rising up that isn’t going to accept the “just because I told you to!” speech. Many of us had an adult explain “do as I say not as I do” to us on mulitple occasions, but I’m here to tell you that way of teaching is no longer working. Kids today see an adult do something and can not put into their thoughts that children aren’t supposed to do as adults do. Now children need to understand it. The only way for them to grasp it is to show them….
being the change.
Prayer:
One of the hardest things to do is take our own advise. God please remind me daily to BE the change. In Jesus name. – amen
