I am a people watcher, I think I always have been. I’ve noticed a change in a lot of people that could be linked to lots of things. Fear, depression, the unknown, stress over finances, and so much more. Do you understand that Jesus died on the cross for all of those things? Not only the things, but the people who carry those things. When a person is weighed down by one or more of these, they are desiring a way out. Jesus is that way. If we as Christians can’t get our acts together and show God’s love to one another, a stranger, friend(s), or even family; can you explain how people affected by these can feel the presence of God?
Am I saying that God can’t allow someone to feel His presence with out it shining through us? No, not at all. What I am saying is that people who have never felt the love of God, have no idea what they are looking for. We (Christ followers) are an example, that example is there to help those searching get a glimpse of God’s love. If we are quarrelsome with one another, aren’t we now working against what God stands for? For those of you reading needing an example: 2 Timothy 2:24. Was this Jesus speaking Himself? No, but the Holy Spirit leads people today just like when this was written.
Can you think back to a time or maybe it’s right now, when you were just down. It felt like nothing could change it. I promise you that when you feel that way the last thing you can take is someone harshly telling you anything. In some of those times you can’t even handle someone telling you it’s all going to work out in the end. So, what would you be accomplishing? Instead of telling someone who’s already down and out what they can do to be better, why not say, I’m here with you, and for you. It’s a start of them feeling Christ through you.
Prayer:
We may not ever understand what another person is going through God, but we do know that you want us to show your love through it. Guide our ways to reflect you. In Jesus name. -Amen
