As a married couple praying for direction, my husband and I have decided to fully trust in God to work on our future; starting right now. What does that mean for us? We’ve discussed that, and decided our best option is to pray, read Bible plans together, and continue in our daily routines. There are times this honestly feels very unproductive because I have always been the “planning” type. Even my speratic adventures are planned out in my brain.
It seems through this I’m learning to let go of my control and allow God to work. It’s so easy to make a decision based on what we can see {with our eyes} to be our future. Yet it’s best when we can reflect on the fact that God can see more than we can see. We both decided to not get too stressed out, worried, or anxious about what’s next for us. I can’t help but feel like there are other’s out in blog land who may be dealing with something similar. I call it the waiting game. Waiting while praying, waiting while trusting, waiting while living.
I seem to always remember that faith without works is dead and there are times I take that to another level. For this event though it takes patience. That’s a whole nother blog for another day 😉 but it really is difficult. So without over doing my “work” part of faith, I’m learning the importance of listening and obeying what I hear. This is giving me a reason to rely on God. So if all of my effort is put toward listening and obeying; I have to know that whatever I am doing next is where I’m supposed to be.
Remembering this when it seems like you just want to “go back to Egypt,” where you feel safest but are in turmoil and enslaved; that’s the hard part. If you’re in the moment of wanting to “go back” after praying about where you are and knowing it’s where God wants you, don’t. Don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t allow your negative thoughts to parade around your brain, don’t for a second forget that Christ has a plan for you. His plan ALWAYS works out for your good. It wasn’t said your journey would be smooth sailing, but it is promised to work out for good.
PRAYER:
We understand the importance of listening to your plan. If we are at a place in our lives that we can’t understand why it’s so important to listen and obey, please give us clarification. Some of us need help learning how to listen, some of us struggle with obedience; as hard as we know it’s going to be, teach us. Our goal as Christ followers is to love like you love, and to live like you desire us to live. We are all different, but the same in you. Allow our future plans to be ones you need us to make. In Jesus Name. -Amen
