As I sit here in my warm cozy bed fighting thoughts VS needing to be asleep, thoughts won. Let me tell you why.
My thoughts kept returning about a homless vet I saw yesterday who seemed very well put together. Very nice clothes, a warm coat, and boots for warmth. I began thinking how sad I was for him because if his sign was true, he faught for me and here he is holding a sign on the corner.
It’s what happened next that sticks out most. He was on an opposing corner, too far away for me to reach, but he turned to look at the group of cars I was with. He pointed to the bottom of his sign and gave an enormous smile. It said…. “God Bless You.” After he pointed to those words one by one, he then pointed to the line of cars around me continuing to smile. Then, he simply walked away.
No one gave him money, no one did anything for him, but he did so much for me! He faught for this country and then in his slump is trying to Bless those around him. Dear soldier you are amazing! We can learn a lot from this situation, so many times we over look lessons to be learned. I’m going to leave these lessons open for you because if I give you options I feel you may try to keep it to those options. This scenerio deserves your thoughts and your hearts.
I truly pray this guy is warm tonight. I truly hope his blessing others is returned to him times 10!
Prayer:
Open our hearts to what you want learned from this story. Allow us to acknowledge the tug you’ve placed on us. Bless this soldier and those who are able to learn from him. In Jesus name. -Amen.
