I’m not sure if you’ve noticed a trend on my post lately, but I’m truly struggling with direction. So as my frequent readers know, I blog about what I know best, me. I don’t mind sharing my stories because I’m hopeful they would help atleast one other person.
I sorta got an epiphany this afternoon. I know another person struggling with the same thing in a different way, so as I was talking to this person I was made aware God was working in my situation. Stress usually kicks in when we as humans feel a need to know what happens next. I’ve delt with this so much, thanks to my planning skills ;p that I’ve become pretty good at doing this next thing. Finding the flow.
While talking with this person today I was able to verbally express what I have found comfort in, so I thought why not share it with you as well? First and foremost we should know that our comfort is found in Christ. It says so here….Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV So, while keeping this in mind, I now try to allow Him to comfort through chaos.
Chaos surrounds our lives daily, along with distratctions. If we allow these things to be in the forefront, somehow we’ve allowed ourselves to be placed before God. Its unintentionally done most of the time. I feel we do it without realizing it’s been done because we feel a need to plan or figure things out. (No I’m not saying we should all run around chasing butterflies in the wind either, plans are good to have, only when God is placed first in them.) For example: I prayed about a plan between God and I, I received my plan (however you and God communicate) and now it’s time to do my plan. Except during this “do” process, I’ve allowed distractions attached with emotions to set in place and suddenly I feel lost. <— because I took God out of the forefront. We have to remove ourselves from the front and allow God to be placed there. I want to do a blog soon on how we “remove ourselves” later, but until then, let me stay on finding the flow.
Now I’ve removed myself and I’m allowing God to be first. Chaos is still there, distraction and confusion… still there, but it’s different because now you’re allowing God to fight through it first. Imagine it this way; you’re drving down a road and suddenly you see a wall of snow blocking your path. Would you want your car to be a compact car or a jacked up truck with a snow plow in front? (The snow plow is metaphorically God in this) I’d choose the snow plow all day everyday! So why not choose Jesus in the storm of chaos and distractions in your life?
Basically, once you’ve allowed God to stand out front and fight those battles the best thing to do is go with the flow until it’s time to go. Go with the flow of Christ, when you two can work in unison during conflict or confusion going with the flow is easier. I can say from my experience that He will also let you know when it’s time to go. That could mean a number of things for you, because it does for me. Sum it up to it’s time to make a move, a God move.
One more thing to remember, don’t be too hard on yourself. While also remembering not to be to easy on yourself either. You’ll find your flow. Stay connected to Christ and I promise the flow will be there.
Prayer:
In moments of confusion and chaos remind us to find our flow. Allow your presence to be so overwhelming, we wouldn’t be able to question if it was you. Surround us with your peace and give us your strength emotionally and physically. We love you, because you first loved us. In Jesus name. -Amen
