John 3:16
Let’s see, today I have already lied, doubted, put myself first, showed anger and thought negative. I’m also a christian. Today; I’ve encouraged, loved, put others first, told the truth and thought positive. HOW IN THE WORLD can I be so contradictory? People who do not understand God’s love, would even go as far as calling me a hypocrite. If you don’t understand that word, I will give a quick explanation for you; a hypocrite is someone who is portrayed as a liar or a pretender. I can totally understand why someone could see most Christians as people pretending. It’s so difficult to fully understand how God can love someone who continues to mess up. It’s hard to get this because; in general, when we see others around us mess up, we hold them to the mess. We can’t see past their failure to believe they have or can change.
God’s love is nothing like our human love. His love endures, His love is never failing, His love is compassionate, His love is slow to anger, His love could be explained in so many ways. Even though we have never seen God 1 John 4:12 (NIV) reminds us that if we “love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” Therefore, if I am loving, I am pouring out God’s love.
John 3:17(NIV) Tells us that God did not send his son to the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through his son. So if God didn’t send his son to criticize us or blame us, why do we feel so comfortable doing that to ourselves and others? I challenge you today, switch your focus. Stop looking at the sin itself, and see how you can love the sin. What if your love brought God’s love to them and helped them through the sin, instead of the finding their fault and pushing their ego down further than the sin itself.
In John 10:14-16(NIV) Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me– just as the Father knows me and I know the Father– and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” We are the sheep, there are many other sheep he wishes to have in the pen with him.
Spread his love, shine his light, be who God wants you to be.
