Gift the Gift

I had an opportunity to serve at an event that regularly sets up box trucks and goes to one of the dangerous counties in the state and feeds, clothes, encourages, and shows the love of Jesus to them. I caught myself standing back just watching everyone and I found myself with a constant smile on my face because of the hearts being filled with Jesus. Most of the people that came, came with full intentions of only grabbing clothes and food, but what they weren’t expecting was that they also left with Jesus in their lives. Seeds where planted and now Jesus is going to be able to grow in their lives! I met one guy who encouraged me in a mighty way! His story has left him with very little, and the majority of that is from illness (brain surgeries). While he came up to me looking for encouragement, he actually left me with tears rolling down my face. Another person came up to our conversation and it lead us all to pray, the guy who came for encouragement started us off in prayer! He didn’t know the words to say in the beginning, but when he ended his prayer, it was as if it came naturally. He prayed out his pain, he prayed for us as the group, he prayed for those in the area, and he asked that God be with us all. It was such a heart felt prayer that it left me in tears. It was as if this guy left all of his sorrows with Jesus and he didn’t even know Him.
All of that to simply say…God gave us his son…(a gift), Jesus gave us a gift, the Holy Spirit… our job is to Gift the Gift! It’s not our job to selfishly hold the Holy Spirit to ourselves, but we are to shine God’s presence through us so that it makes the passerby turn and say… hmmm… what was that?
Prayer: God, we are so thankful for the Gift given to us. We know this gift was given as a sharable gift and right now we just ask that you guide our feet to people who need this gift. In Jesus name, Amen
