Pause and Reflect

Hello Giants!

I had a thought that hit me pretty hard today, and I was encouraged so much that I wanted to share it with you guys as well! Often times we hear the verbiage: “Child-like Faith”. I tend to associate this with believing that ANYTHING is possible, that as adults, we should trust God to stand on His word/promise, and that I/we can go to our Heavenly Father many times requesting our hopes/desires. While all of that is true, I had another option pop into my thoughts today. Many of you may not know that I have a rambunctious toddler and today I found myself correcting him by saying things like, “Remember, we talked about this…”. Guys, what if another aspect of “Child-like faith” is also being as a child of God allowing him to parent us even though we are adults? Can we, as adults lessen our pride, and say, I NEED to be lead? Children love being led, they may not always like it, but from my experiences, my children are more joyful during times when I am leading them well. Today for instance, instead of simply telling my toddler… no, don’t do that, no, don’t say that, no, don’t act like that…. I simply reminded him that we already had the discussion behind why and this is a moment to remember. The word remember had me thinking about the many times in the Old Testament that leaders would take time to build a remembrance altar after God did something special for them. Then taking this thought deeper, I went to Jesus’ life to reflect on a time that he told us to remember something. Communion came to mind! Jesus said, do this (communion) in remembrance of him (1 Cor. 11:24). This was meant to lead us in a way to be reminded of what both God and Jesus did for us through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Our Heavenly Father led us by way of remembrance. Today, I encourage you to stay focused on the love God has for you by what He has already done for you (by sending His son for our sake, to die on the cross). Today, I encourage you to take communion and pause to remember the love that Jesus had for us to die a sinless death on the cross. Today, I encourage you to be led through remembering what God has done and then reflect on the promise(s) to come. Today, I encourage you to ask God to lead you like a child! Sleeping Giant, Arise!

Prayer:

Father, first, thank you for what you have already done for us. Thank you for your sacrificial love. Thank you for your forgiveness. I ask that you would remind us of that love today. I ask that you would surround our circumstances and remind us that you have control. I thank you in advance for whatever you do next in our lives and the lives of those around us. Thank you for the many blessings that we often take for granted, such as breath, life, and joy. Father, overall, help us to trust your will over our own. In Jesus’ name we pray and believe. Amen.
